J. ROBERT SCOTT EXPANDS EXECUTIVE SEARCH OFFICE IN HONG KONG, TO OPEN IN SHANGHAI, AS ASIA PACIFIC ECONOMY CONTINUES TO GROW

HONG KONG, March 29, 2010 – As the Asia Pacific region continues its impressive growth and keeps attracting global talent, J. Robert Scott today announced the expansion of its Hong Kong office with the appointment of four executive search professionals. In addition, the firm is in the process of establishing a representative office in Shanghai with two executive search professionals in coming weeks.

J. Robert Scott named David Hui, a 10-year veteran of the executive recruiting industry, as managing director and head of its Asia Pacific region, which already includes operations in Singapore. Additionally, Ivy Ng was appointed managing director, Mark Gaffney was named principal and Rakesh Sippy joined as a senior associate in the firm’s Hong Kong office. In Shanghai, Janet Lui will be appointed managing director. She will be joined by Evelyn Gong who will work as an associate. Both offices will initially serve the financial services sector, with future plans to support J. Robert Scott’s other core global practices of technology, life sciences and higher education/not-for-profit.

Hong Kong Office:

David Hui, Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific Region
David Hui is responsible for growing J. Robert Scott’s practice in the Asia Pacific region and leads searches in the financial services sector. Prior to joining J. Robert Scott, Hui was a founding partner of Asia Carbon, a boutique search firm focused on the Asia Pacific region. Prior to that, he was the head of the financial services practice for Asia Pacific at Korn/Ferry International. Earlier, he spent six years as head of Asia for Whitehead Mann. Hui holds an LL.B. from the University of Leeds, an LL.M. from the University of London, as well as an M.B.A. from the Kellogg/HKUST Executive Management Program.

Mark Gaffney, Principal
Mark Gaffney joins J. Robert Scott from Asia Carbon and brings more than 12 years of executive search experience in the Asia Pacific region. He will help develop the firm’s financial services business in the region. Prior to Asia Carbon, Gaffney was a client partner in Korn/Ferry’s global financial markets sector with responsibility for originating and executing retained search assignments in Greater China and North Asia. Earlier in his career, he was with a major international search firm as the head of research for Hong Kong and Singapore. Gaffney holds a bachelor’s degree from University College, Dublin.

Ivy Ng, Managing Director
Ivy Ng joins J. Robert Scott from Asia Carbon and is based in Hong Kong. Her practice will focus on the investment and corporate banking sector. Ng brings 10 years of search experience gained in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. Most recently, she was a senior client partner at Korn/Ferry International in Hong Kong where she specialized in the banking area. She has also worked at a number of search firms, including Whitehead Mann Hong Kong. Ng holds an M.A. degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Rakesh Sippy, Senior Associate
Rakesh Sippy joins J. Robert Scott from Asia Carbon, where he was responsible for the execution of regional search assignments. He brings six years of executive search experience in Asia and will conduct searches primarily in the
financial services sector. Prior to that, he worked as a senior associate for Korn/Ferry International’s Hong Kong office covering a number of regional and international assignments in the global financial services sector. He also worked at two boutique search firms in Hong Kong. Sippy holds a B.S. degree from Menlo College.

Shanghai Office:

Janet Lui, Managing Director
Janet Lui will join J. Robert Scott from Asia Carbon and is based in Shanghai. Her practice will focus on private equity, real estate and professional services sectors. Prior to Asia Carbon, she was a senior client partner at Korn/Ferry International in Shanghai where she specialized in alternative investments sectors. Before moving to search in 2004, she spent eight years in the private equity sector in her role as general manager of JAFCO International Ltd. in Hong Kong. Prior to JAFCO, she was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company’s Hong Kong office. Lui holds a bachelor’s degree from Chinese University, Hong Kong.

Evelyn Gong, Associate
Evelyn Gong will join J. Robert Scott from Asia Carbon and is based in Shanghai. She will support the delivery of international executive search assignments with a specific focus in the private equity, real estate, consulting and
legal sectors in the Greater China region. Prior to Asia Carbon, Evelyn worked in a similar role at Korn/Ferry International. Gong holds a B.S. degree from East China Normal University in Shanghai and an M.S. degree from the London School of Economics.
